Our Remarkable Moments

Mr. K., in his 90’s, was a volunteer here for many years before a stroke made it necessary for him to join us as a resident. As a volunteer, Mr. K. would spend hours playing the piano for residents and family members. He played beautifully and once remarked, “If I couldn’t play the piano, my life would be over.”
The stroke robbed him of his ability to play. But a staff member remembered what he had said and we all remembered how beautifully he played so we knew we had to try to help him learn to play again. Slowly but surely the rehabilitation program worked and now he plays for church services every Thursday and he literally beams with pride and a sense of purpose.
